Installation and Removal

Install / Uninstall privileges
When installing or uninstalling on 2000 or XP you need to ensure that you have administrator privileges otherwise the installation can fail. On Windows Vista and later the system will attempt to elevate the process. Standard users will need to provide an administrator password.

  1. If you already have a copy of Clipboard Format Spy earlier than v4.0 installed you may install the new version alongside it. However, if you want to replace it you must uninstall the old version now using the Add / Remove Programs (a.k.a. Programs and Features) Control Panel applet.
  2. The program is distributed in a zip archive which contains two files – ReadMe.txt and CFS-Setup-x.x.x.exe, where x.x.x. is the program's version number. Extract both files from the archive.
  3. ReadMe.txt contains installation instructions and other relevant information. You should read this file before proceeding.
  4. CFS-Setup-x.x.x.exe is the installation program. Double-click CFS-Setup-x.x.x.exe. The installer is a standard wizard style Windows installer. Follow the instructions in the wizard. You must accept the program's license to proceed. Once the license is accepted you can configure the installation directory, the program group name and optionally display a desktop icon. Once the installation has completed you have the option to display ReadMe.txt and to start the program.

Note: Source code is no longer distributed with the executable files but must now be downloaded separately. See the download tab.

  1. Start the Windows Control Panel and select Programs and Features (a.k.a. Add / Remove Programs).
  2. Select DelphiDabbler Clipboard Format Spy v4.x.x, where x.x is the minor version number, and click the Remove or Uninstall button.
  3. Once you have confirmed this action the program will be uninstalled. When the process is complete a message will be displayed.

Note: The uninstaller will leave behind registry entries under HKCU\Software\DelphiDabbler\CFS\4 for each user who has used the program. These may be deleted manually. Please back up the registry before making any manual changes.
